Uniform Guide

We strongly believe that school uniform gives our pupils a sense of identity and of belonging to the academy. It helps to ensure that no student feels disadvantaged in terms of appearance, removes the need to keep up with constantly changing and expensive fashion trends, and instils a sense of pride.

We expect all our school pupils to wear full school uniform and come to school looking presentable each day. This also extends to presentation of hairstyles. Hair should be of natural colour and worn in a style which does not compromise health and safety. Hairstyles including Mohican and other non-gradual changes in length, patterned, shaving and grade 1 or below are unacceptable.

Any items of school uniform which have the school logo can be ordered Price and Buckland.

The office has a limited selection of small quantities available only accessible for children on-roll.

Steps to Ordering Compulsory Items:

All uniform can be purchased through the Price and Buckland website direct. Please click this link to be taken to their external website.

While we do not sell second-hand uniform directly all year around, second-hand branded uniform items may be available through our FOLPS events, local community initiatives, charity shops, or online platforms such as Facebook Marketplace and local uniform swap groups.

Please see Uniform Guide at the bottom of the page.

Please note, we provide the following compulsory items to pupils when they start school
(Replacements will need to be ordered via Price & Buckland)

  • LPS Book Bag
  • LPS Water Bottle
  • LPS Sun cap

Financial Support

Launceston Primary School takes pride in its smart yet affordable uniform. To keep costs manageable for families, we have minimized the number of branded items.

We have a branded knitted jumper, which, while slightly more expensive than a standard sweatshirt, offers good value in terms of quality and durability. We also have a branded PE top, ensuring children are in uniform when representing the school at sporting events. Additionally, our branded sunhat is particularly useful on school trips, helping staff easily identify children in busy public spaces.

Each year, we allocate a modest budget to support families who may struggle with uniform costs. This fund is primarily intended to assist with branded items, but in cases of urgent need, we can also help with non-branded essentials such as shoes, pumps, and polo shirts.

As our resources are limited, we are unable to offer a universal discount. Instead, we assess requests on a case-by-case basis to ensure support reaches those who need it most.

To help families manage uniform costs, we offer several options:

  • Matched funding for families eligible for income-related free school meals.

  • Flexible payment schedules, allowing families to pay when they are able.

  • Instalment plans, spreading the cost over weekly or monthly payments.

What Isn't Allowed?

We ask that children do not wear jewellery of any kind expect for small studs (if ears are pierced), or wear nail varnish, makeup or tattoos.

For health and safety reasons, long hair should be kept out of children’s eyes and tied back, particularly for PE and Forest School sessions. Hair accessories should be plain and in school colours (green, grey or black). Extreme hairstyles such as very short or ‘buzz cuts’, sculptured names or symbols, or dyed hair, are neither appropriate nor acceptable for children of primary school age.
